Mardie Caldwell, COAP, Host of Let's Talk Adoption Appeared Live on the Today Show
In over 21 years of helping build thousands of families through adoption, Mardie Caldwell, COAP, has seen it all. She has, in fact, written two award-winning books on the subject and is the founder of one of the largest adoption centers in the country, Lifetime Adoption. Now she is sharing her expertise during a feature on America's #1 morning show, NBC's 'Today Show'.
Adoption is seeing a resurgence in this country, in fact 3 out of 5 people are touched by adoption. And while, in theory, the adoption process may seem fairly basic, families just starting to adopt face many decisions before they even begin. Add to that the seemingly endless river of paperwork and red tape, and it is easy to see why adoption experts like Caldwell are vital in ensuring adoption success.
Caldwell appeared on the Today Show in New York on Wednesday, May 9th, and discussed recent changes in adoption. To view her appearance, click here.
Caldwell currently hosts a weekly radio talk show, Let's Talk Adoption, which enables her to encourage and educate adoptive parents as well as others interested in adoption. Her first book, AdoptingOnline.com won the Benjamin Franklin Award from Publishers' Weekly, and her second Adoption: Your Step-by-Step Guide garnered various awards as well. Caldwell currently has three more books scheduled for release with her publisher, American Carriage House Publishing, all related to adoption.
NTI Upstream & "Let's Talk Adoption" Radio Show to Converge in San Antonio
Unique Event Fuses Reception, Taping of Radio Show, and Panel Discussion in One
Contact: Maurques Burnett FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tel: (312) 423-5657
Chicago, IL - March 26, 2007
Discussions on international adoption should involve much more than talks of Madonna and Angelina Jolie. The celebs, however, can be immensely helpful, says David Kirschner, author of Adoption: Unchartered Waters. "If they talk up the need for prospective adopters to read books on the subject, join support groups, to prepare to cope with the inevitable adoption issues." International adoption is a great undertaking for adoptive families and the children that join them. However, the joys of this endeavor can only be realized if special responsibilities and challenges are addressed properly.
Chicago-based NTI Upstream and the “Let's Talk Adoption” Radio Show have created an event with this need and the adoption community in mind. From 7-9pm, on Thursday, April 12, 2007, the San Antonio River Walk's Casa Rio will be the site for “International Adoption: Let's Talk About It”. The event, co-sponsored by the Ft.Worth, Texas-based Gladney Center for Adoption, will include a reception, a live taping of the “Let's Talk Adoption” radio show, and a panel discussion addressing questions from the audience. Prospective parents, current adoptive families, and adoption professionals will benefit from discussing the factors that can affect internationally adopted children.
The “Let's Talk Adoption” Radio Show will feature Mardie Caldwell's interview with Dr. Ira J. Chasnoff, M.D., president of NTI Upstream and co-author of Risk & Promise. This publication, a research-based handbook for parents adopting a child from overseas, covers many of the topics that will be discussed throughout the evening. Panelists will include Great Wall China Adoption's Snow Wu, as well as Marshall Williams of Gladney Center for Adoption.
The Gladney Center for Adoption, founded more than a century ago, stands today as a non-profit international leader in adoption services, specializing in international and domestic adoptions. The Gladney Center has placed more than 27,000 children for adoption and helped more than 36,000 women experiencing crisis pregnancies.
“Let's Talk Adoption” is an internet radio show serving the adoption community.
“Let's Talk Adoption” Radio Talk Show is underwritten by a Lifetime Foundation Adoption Grant with a focus on positive adoption education. The show, hosted by adoption expert Mardie Caldwell, strives to build better adoption awareness for the future of adoptee's and adoptive parents.
Started in 1996 by Ira J. Chasnoff, M.D., NTI Upstream specializes in translating information developed through research and clinical care into educational programs and materials. Our products and services target all groups related to the healthy development of children and families – parents, professionals, and other advocates of healthy child development.
